The owners have an eye for interior design borne out by the upmarket furnishings and lighting, including lovely Harris tweed curtains and cushions. The décor throughout is top notch with the colour schemes reflecting the muted greens and browns of the local landscape. It feels like the suite of a 5-star hotel.

Relax in comfort

The comfy sofa and a multi-fuel burning stove mean the lounge is ideal for relaxing, while the kitchen is very well equipped, with a dishwasher, microwave, cooker, fridge and air fryer. The locally sourced and tasty welcome pack includes  lots of delicious goodies.

In case the weather is poor – it occasionally rains in Scotland – Fibre Broadband means the internet connection is super-fast, HD Freesat TV, Blu-Ray player and a library of films, and a mini hifi sound system complete the offering.

The large bedroom has an extremely comfortable super-kingsize bed (splits into twins), high end décor including top quality soft furnishings and stunning wooden feature wall.
There is decent sized bathroom with a shower, (but no bath) and a utility drying room area with washing machine & tumble dryer.

Cottages for Couples. One of the highlights of the Cow Shed luxury holiday cottage is the decking area in front of the lounge with elevated views across the glen over to the mature woodlands and hills beyond. Perfect for a BBQ or a glass of something chilled. There is also a pleasing garden courtyard area, with some lovely raised beds full of interesting plants and flowers.

This is fantastic walking country, ranging from rambles from the door to high level hillwalking and Munro bagging. The friendly and helpful owners have provided loads of information on local walks and activities.

An interesting fact is that 60% of the bookings that Steve & Kirsty get for The Cow Shed are from returning guests, often from guests that have stayed on multiple occasions. When you arrive there it’s easy to understand why.

Perfect Days

Enjoy a day’s walking. There are loads of suggestions in the folder in the cottage. Favourites of ours include a walk up Glen Tilt, one of the most beautiful glens in Scotland and accessible only on foot. Or how about an ascent of Schiehallion (1083m), with breathtaking views across the wilds of Rannoch Moor?

Take a drive along Loch Tay to the amazing Crannog Centre, which features a unique reconstruction of an early Iron Age loch-dwelling.

Visit nearby Pitlochry. Take in a distillery tour at Eradour Distillery, the smallest in Scotland. Or go for a wander by the famous salmon ladder, do some shopping or even try a round of golf. The Pitlochry Festival Theatre features a repertory company and many nationally acclaimed touring productions.

Nearby Blair Atholl is well worth exploring, especially to the dramatic Blair Castle, with 700 years of Scottish history, stunning gardens and over 30 rooms on display. The charming Blair Atholl Watermill is a working watermill, it’s great for lunch and offers fantastic cakes in its legendary tearoom.

Explore nearby Queen’s View at Loch Tummel – great woodland walks and one of the most famous views in Scotland. Killicrankie is well worth a stop with its dramatic gorge, battlefield visitor centre and Jacobite tales
