We’ve all ploughed through agency brochures, bland websites and tourist board information in a desperate effort to find the perfect holiday house. More often than not it’s down to pure luck whether what we end up booking is any good.
But wait … we have the solution. Don’t waste your time - have a wee look our holiday house suggestions. Simply very special places to stay, we believe we’ve found some of the best cottages in Scotland. Turfhouses, boathouses, treehouses, lighthouses, cabins on the beach, houses on stilts and even a signal box! All recommended by us, no bribes or cash accepted from owners, just independent (and totally subjective) opinions from us - locals who are passionate about Scotland.
If you like what you see, why not Download our new iPhone App which includes new cottages not listed on the website.

What a breath of fresh air your website is. A brilliant and eclectic selection of highland holiday houses. Its now my first port of call when looking for holiday inspiration.
Hi There
Thanks for your message. I’m not actually connected to the cool camping books publishing company, but know the books well!
Our wee site only recommends great places to stay, we don’t actually take bookings. However, I would highly recommend the Laggan Drey http://coolcottagesscotland.com/?page_id=33
Near laggan, its about 15 mins from Newtonmore and 35 mins from Aviemore. A really stunning house with good walking nearby and handy for cairngorms or even Creag Meaghy in the West. Follow the link from the review to get contact details/check availability.
Thanks
Jason
