This is a totally subjective selection of quirky, unusual places to stay. All these cottages offer good quality accommodation and we think they are some of the best places to stay in Scotland. They are not necessarily top of the range, 5 star luxury, but do offer a unique experience in character packed cottages amid some of the finest scenery in the world.
Trying to book a decent holiday cottage can be a nightmare, I know. So many highland holiday cottages look the same and can be very bland if not downright dull. How come they all described themselves as idyllic? Why are the websites and brochures so formulaic and blah…? If you’re unlucky you can pay a lot of money for a downright disappointing house, trust me its happened to us!
